Thanksgiving Update from Pixel Qi

by mary_lou_jepsen on November 29th, 2008

It’s been a while since I posted here. During the fund raising process so much of what we were doing was necessarily secret. Also during this process the ideas that we have had began to mature into commercial product concepts that we also have to keep confidential to work most effectively with our partners.

We have opened two offices this fall: one in San Francisco and one in Taipei. We have completed a large tranche of hiring and have a truly extraordinary team on both sides of the Pacific with excellent partnerships beyond.

We signed a deal, yesterday - on Thanksgiving Day, that should cement the ability of Pixel Qi to deliver a compelling roadmap of products starting in 2009.

Congratulations from freelance writer Dave Kanter.

True innovators such as yourself may make 2009 a turning point, despite the weakened economy, and may even hasten economic recovery.

Looking forward to seeing that roadmap. The products described on your site are quite interesting.

It will also be interesting to see which netbook producers pick this up. They’ll certainly get my attention for my next purchase.

Thank you for updating everyone on the situation. I am looking forward to seeing your display tech in action. I’ve heard rave reviews about the OLPC screen and you make it sound as though these screens will be even better.

I just bought a new laptop because I couldn’t wait any longer, but hopefully I can buy a netbook with one of these screens next year or the year after. Congratulations on your new deals and good luck with this part of the process.

I was wondering if you are going to be using the ARM core. I say that because it would seem to be easier to integrate into the display, plus is very low in power consumption.

(Of course I can understand that, due to business agreements, you might not be at liberty at the present to discuss technical specifics.)

Have you checked out the TechCrunch tablet initiative yet? Seems that they could do with your help.
