Position:    Electrical  Engineer

Main Responsibilities

The company currently is searching for a key team member to contribute at the Mechanical Engineer level.  This position reports to the Vice President of Module Engineering.  It requires a hands-on approach, experience, flexibility, maturity and confidence.

This position is responsible for electronic aspects of LCD development and integration efforts, and customer and vendor support activities.  This position will also identify, select and work closely with our fab partners and customers, and work closely with senior members of the engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams.  Responsibilities include electronic design and integration of LCD (gamma tuning, tcon, EMI/EMC, touchscreen, test fixturing and debug), and improvement through design changes.  Experience with LCD is greatly preferred. 

This position is based in  Taipei, Taiwan:  Fluency with written and spoken English and Chinese is required.  Approximately 25% travel within Taiwan  and Asia Required

Requirements for this position are as follows

• BS (MS preferred) in EE or related field, with at least 2 years of experience
• Significant hands-on experience with LCD drive electronics
• High volume LCD or other consumer electronics component manufacturing familiarity preferred

Principal Optical Display Engineer

Critical responsibilities will include:

• Take a key role in architecture of next-generation Pixel Qi screens, inventing and modeling the pixel architecture in combination with backlight and optical films, including colorimetry and diffractive/refractive layer design, and leveraging existing Pixel Qi engineering abilities in pixel design, liquid crystal design, backlight design and electronics and layout design.
• With assistance of on-staff optical-mechanical engineer -  architect and develop novel metrology systems to assess performance of Pixel Qi screens and lead to deeper understanding of what next generation Pixel Qi screens may be capable of.
• Consider, suggest, find, and get working - externally available metrology tools to assess performance of key attributes of our displays
• Support development of short-term product development options and a longer-term technical roadmap.
• Develop IP, through patentable innovations and through other ‘know-how’, and assist in developing an IP strategy; leadership and management of IP portfolio and strategy

Candidate Requirements:

• A MS in Display Engineering or Optical Engineering or equivalent (PhD preferred)
• Proven ability to ship: must have been a key member of a team that has brought a novel display product into mass production
• Proven ability to innovate:  A clear history of innovative thinking and design of new display and/or optical architectures
• Strong background in display design, human visual system, birefringent optics and in diffractive/refractive optics
• Ability to search out, find, create and cobble together optical modeling tools to explore new designs leverage such packages as Matlab, Zemax, Gsolver, and similar.
• Proven ability in the lab: ability to create simple prototypes out of materials acquired by you found online, at trade shows, in computer malls, or in flea markets etc.

As a senior member of PQ staff, your responsibilities will include

• Aiding and supporting in the operations of Pixel Qi particularly as it helps toward meeting customer requirements
• Aiding in the overall direction of Pixel Qi, including consideration of new products and new directions, alliances, etc.
• Joining in thinking about the larger challenge and opportunity for display-centric designs, markets and opportunities

The preferred location for this position is Taipei, Taiwan with relocation expenses available.  A less preferred location for this position is in San Bruno, CA, with more than  60% time in Taipei in first year, and after that about 1/3 of time would be required in Taipei office
