Our first screens out of the fab!

by mary_lou_jepsen on May 24th, 2009

I’m typing this note on one of the first screens out of the fab, with the backlight turned off, retrofit into an Acer AspireOne netbook, in a poorly lit hotel room in Asia with a crisp high resolution epaper experience. We will be showing off the new screen in private next week: both at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan (June 2-6) and SID Display Week in San Antonio, Texas (May 31-June 5).

If you want to see it: contact: [email protected]

    Dear Mary Lou:

But of course, I (we) want to see it!

At least a low resolution picture!

    Best regards!

Wow! I can’t wait to see this in action. What’s the refresh rate in the epaper mode?

    Mary Lou,

Pixel Qi is definitely exciting. I think it can even be used not just in low cost XO type pcs, but also in regular laptops (as replacement screens)..

I would also think that there is a great market for OEM compatible parts (e.g. I would like to buy Pixel Qi screen to replace my laptop’s broken LCD).

  5. Cool, definitely excited about the implications of this on the world.
This would definitely compliment the Planon Portable Scanner I was planning on buying. Hmmm… this should lead an interesting college experience.

    oh, that’s so great !!

I remember playing with friends in the beach in Spain (here in Mediterranium you have LIGHT all year,I suppose like California) to the nintendo gameboy with friends when I was a child. I thought to myself: wait until we have this screens on laptops, and they improve , well, it didn’t improved that way. They got better, indoors, as if computers limitation force us to be limited. I can’t work whenever I want because stupid limitations(outdoors), and the time I need(battery time.)

The color thing is not as important as having good black and white working first… if they work like you say I will buy one as soon as I can and spread the word.

I have an acer one…could you send me some pictures to my email. Sounds dirty, complete geek porn.

    Hi,

Is there any possibility to invest as secured bond holder/class A share holders with this startup. Something like investors who do not have to fear the reverse stock split or miss their contributions when the company fortunes take off down the road. Is their a person at Pixel Qi startup that can provide investment info for prospective investors? I don’t think you have this on NASDAQ yet right? What is the base minimum funding acceptable to get in as an individual investor?
