SID 2012 and Computex 2012

by mary_lou_jepsen on June 14th, 2012

We covered two big conferences last week – one in Taipei and one in Boston.

While the 50th annual SID Display Week conference was booming last week in Boston, most of the Pixel Qi team was releasing some new products with customers at Computex in Taipei.

We showed new products with InHand, Mobile Demand, FIC, and others at Computex.

At SID Display Week we gave a few talks. I’d like to share this one with you.

It is about the role of fab-less development of innovative screens as a new approach to business in the display industry. Fab-less is an effective approach used by the designers of innovative technologies from silicon chips to computers and devices (e.g. Apple doesn’t have fabs or factories – they contract with them). However, this approach is brand new to the display industry. We at Pixel Qi are doing this as a start-up and creating real innovation in the industry not just from a technical perspective but also from a business perspective. I spoke at length about some of the issues in the process, and many of the benefits that are unfolding and becoming more visible now.
