As I remember – one of your employees emailed me that mass production will start at 4Q 2009. So it seems something has changed, or he hasn’t received sufficient information from supervisors. But whatever, it doesnt matter. What matters now if You technology become widely available and at reasonable prices.

LCDs with CCFL or even led-backlighted are for me, and perhaps for many other people, like interrogation lamps – user can’t focus on his work, sometimes gets headaches, at the end he is less effective.

I wish I could be your “ambassador” in my environment, country, but it seems You are too occupied with Your own problems…

Pity that 15,4′ replacement screens (for example for DIY assemble) won’t be available in a first place. I would install one with pleasure in my notebook. Of course if only this would be possible according to technical conditions.

I’m starting to thing that your tablet customer is Apple itself.

Steve Jobs is not stupid and he thinks in a lot of things, like battery time,weight and mass production. If Apple introduce a tablet that can be read outdoors and mass produced he is instantly competing in the ebooks market, although he said it was not interesting for him because nobody reads, I’m sure he wants to be there because everybody reads for their work and so…

If he does he could be using the App Store to sell books in an instant and surpass kindle both in numbers and price. E-ink is expensive and not mass produced yet, pixel qi is cheap and known tech. Adding a hardware accelerated high quality pdf reader is so easy for them(they allready have it), no DRM, just read all your pdfs.

They have the power to bring capacitive touch screen in big size at mass production cost. The only problem I see is exclusivity licenses.

@ pepe: Though their design looked interesting to me in the beginning, i find it too expensive for what I’d get, compared to upcoming competitors’ products. Esspecially as reciepients of the first batch reported quality issues not only with the software (which was actually officially stated to be still in beta stage from what i remember) but also with the hardware.

And by the way, I too laugh at Kindle. Actually I laugh at the whole current concept of eBooks and eBook readers. You don’t get price based compensation for the omission of printing and shipping costs and current DRM is magnitudes more restrictive than traditional print media. On top of that, you need an extra reading device.

That’s were 3Qi comes in though, because once netvertibles are reasonable eBook readers, you won’t need an extra device anymore.

Well, Steve was right to laugh at Kindle. The eInk-readers are still much to expensive for the crappy hardware design. Most available nettops/netvertibles are also cheap crap.

Dear PixelQi, please let me have a reasonable netvertible for christmas…please please pleeeeease..

PS: http://www.alwaysinnovating.com makes interesting netvertibles that could use your new screens..unfortunately, they have 9 inch..
